Designing Graphics for T-Shirt Printing

Designing graphics for T-shirt printing is a specialised area of design. In addition to the basic principles of graphic design, T-shirt design also requires consideration of the “medium” itself—the T-shirt, a highly personal garment worn across the torso. Not only is it clearly visible to everyone we meet and speak with, but it also affects how we feel. Which T-shirt do you choose in the morning? Pay attention to your own choices. In addition to comfort, you probably choose a T-shirt based on the designs printed on it.

T-shirts are printed differently from paper. Print resolution is lower, and the placement of graphics must also be adapted to the T-shirt model and size. Both images (such as .png files) and vector graphics (.pdf) are suitable for printing at Garderoba. Our machines can also handle colour gradients, halftones and fine details—virtually everything you can print on paper. Still, when preparing files, it is important to remember that this is a “living” medium.

We are happy to show designers the printing process and advise them on how to prepare graphics for print.

• You can use our free design tool. All pre-made designs are available for you to use, and you can choose a template and customise it as you wish. Please note that all templates are protected by copyright and may only be used for designs that you order printed with us. You can start designing here.
• Using the same tool, you can also upload your own graphics and images—and further edit, adjust and refine them with our tool.
• Most T-shirts we offer with pre-made graphics can be customised. Combinations of multiple graphics are also possible. For additional requests, please email us at info@garderoba.si. Changes to graphics involve small additional costs.
• Sometimes you may need a larger quantity of T-shirts or more complex design work. Garderoba works with several high-quality designers who understand T-shirt printing and will be happy to help.
